2012

Interview: Amanda Peet (2012)

2012 is the latest disaster film directed by Roland Emmerich. It explores the idea of a global doomsday event coinciding with the Mayan calendar, which states the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012. When a global cataclysm thrusts the world into chaos, divorced writer and father Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) uses his knowledge of the ancient prophecies to ensure that the human race is not completely wiped out.

Amanda Peet, who recently worked with Cusack in Martian Child, this time plays Cusack's ex-wife Kate. The couple is separated, mainly due to the fact that Jackson was paying more attention to his work than he was to his wife. She has custody of the kids, a new boyfriend and Jackson is feeling a bit left out. When the disasters start to hit Los Angeles, Jackson does everything he can to get Kate and the kids to safety, and together they try to find a way to survive.

Peet sat down with Tribute's Bonnie Laufer in Jackson Hole, Wyoming to talk about working on this intense disaster film and why she'll be in just about any film that stars her pal John Cusack.
