An Education

Interview: Carey Mulligan (An Education) at TIFF

Tribute’s Bonnie Laufer-Krebs sat down with Carey Mulligan at TIFF to talk about her outstanding performance in An Education, written by acclaimed author Nick Hornby (High Fidelity, About a Boy).

Set in suburban London in the early 1960s, An Education tells the story of Jenny (Mulligan), a clever, school-minded 16 year old whose life changes when she encounters a charming older man named David (Peter Sarsgaard) and is swept into a glamorous world of culture and sophistication that may prove to be her undoing.

Mulligan is already receiving Oscar buzz for her performance as Jenny and drawing comparisons to a young Audrey Hepburn. When asked what she thinks about all the attention, Mulligan says, “I’m just glad that people like the film.”

Mulligan is currently working on Wall Street 2 in New York City with Michael Douglas and Shia LaBeouf.
