Toy Story 3

Interview with Carlos Baena (Animator of Spanish Buzz in Toy Story 3)

Disney/Pixar animator Carlos Baena got to share a bit of his Spanish heritage when he was asked to animate Spanish Buzz in Toy Story 3. The hit film, which went on to gross more than $1 billion at the box office, features Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toy gang who are mistakenly delivered to a day care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college. It's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't actually abandoned and how important it is for them all to get home.

Tribute's Bonnie Laufer chatted with Carlos about the challenges of animating a Spanish version of Buzz Lightyear and how hard it was to make him look "real" while he was dancing up a storm—flamenco style.
