Vera Farmiga reveals she was cast in The Judge despite refusing to do chemistry reads, because she feels chemistry is something that you work towards during the process of making a movie. Dax Shepard credits film producer Susan Downey for recommending him to play the role of an earnest, new lawyer in the film. Dax talks about how he enjoyed Robert Downey Jr. on the screen from the time he did teen movies and always wanted to work with him, although Vera says Robert Downey Jr. has such a huge presence and is so cheerful and energetic that he was a bit disorienting for her to work with.
