Cop Out

Interview with director Kevin Smith (Cop Out)

For the first time ever, Kevin Smith has left his comfort zone. The popular director gives us Cop Out, an action comedy cop movie from a script he did not write. Smith couldn’t resist the hilarious script when he was asked to direct it and figured it was close to anything he’d actually write himself. The film stars Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan, veteran cops who have been partners on the force for nine years. When a valuable baseball card owned by Willis’s character goes missing, the two are on the hunt to get it back.

In an exclusive interview, Tribute’s Bonnie Laufer spoke with Smith not just about the film but also about his recent altercation with Southwest Airlines when he was refused a seat because of his weight. Smith is upset and angry that people have become so cruel since the incident, picking on him because of his weight issues.

WARNING: Smith uses colorful language throughout the interview—viewer discretion is advised.
