Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

Max von Sydow Interview

Veteran actor Max von Sydow doesn't take on too many movie roles these days, but he was completely intrigued when given the script for Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. Based on the best-selling novel, the story centers around Oskar, a high functioning 11-year-old who must deal with losing his father during the tragic events of 9/11. Sydow plays a mysterious character simply called "The Renter," who does not speak one word through out the entire film, yet bonds with young Oskar in a very special way.

Bonnie Laufer from Tribute spoke with Max in New York about the joys of not having to learn any lines, working with his young co-star Thomas Horn and the movie that makes him cry.
