Youth in Revolt

Interview with Ray Liotta (Youth in Revolt)

Youth in Revolt stars Brampton, Ontario’s own Michael Cera as both a smart, skinny kid named Nick who lusts after a free-spirited girl, and also his alter-ego, a suave Frenchman named Francois, who sports a moustache and has a sophisticated taste for meeting women and raising hell. The film is based on a series of novels by C.D. Payne, which Cera read and enjoyed as a teenager.

Among Cera’s many co-stars is Ray Liotta. Known for playing the bad guy, Liotta shines as a guy who makes Cera’s character quite miserable.

Tribute’s Bonnie Laufer spoke with Liotta via satellite from Los Angeles about working on the film, his impressions of Michael Cera and about working on Goodfellas—a film he made twenty years ago that essentially launched his career.
