Fiasco: A History of Hollywood's Iconic Flops
James Robert Parish
Wiley, $31.99
Ishtar, Cleopatra, Waterworld. What do these films have in
common other than the fact they weren't Oscar winners? All three are considered some of Hollywood's largest financial disappointments. In Fiasco, author James Parish brings readers behind the scenes of 15 of the most spectacular megaflops of the past 50 years, dishing up tales of the egos, the battles and the bad business sense on the part of some of Tinseltown's biggest stars and wheeler-dealers that lead to the duds that will never be forgotten.

Glory Road
Hollywood Records
The soundtrack to this film about the 1966 Texas Western basketball team that defied the odds to make it to the NCAA championships includes such must-have R&B classics as Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On," Stevie Wonder's "Uptight (Everything's Alright)" and Otis Redding's soulful "I've Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now)". The album also features Alicia Keys on three tracks including a beautiful version of Curtis Mayfield's "People Get Ready."

Date Movie
Lakeshore Records
Like the movie itself (a parody of well, date movies) this soundtrack features a little bit of everything. Kelis' groovin' "Milkshake" and The Perceptionists' "Party Hard" share space with Barry White's "You're the First, the Last, My Everything" and The Lovin' Spoonful's "Do You Believe in Magic?" However, the capper is the inclusion of Player's '70s classic "Baby Come Back."

Tsotsi
Milan Records
The producers of the Oscar-nominated Tsotsi fell in love with South African Kwaito music legend Zola (who also acts in the film as gangsta Fela), featuring six of his songs on the soundtrack including hits "Mdlwembe," and "It's Your Life." Much like it's American counterpart, hip-hop, Kwaito is a homegrown style of dance music from Johannesburg. Those familiar with the style will enjoy tracks from Pitch Black Afro and Ishmael, those new to the music will appreciate the raw energy this album provides.
