Thousands of trials take place every day throughout North America, but nothing grabs the public’s attention like one featuring a celebrity. Captured! features the artwork of Mona Shafer Edwards, a courtroom artist who has covered the trials of Michael Jackson, Heidi Fleiss, Winona Ryder, Robert Blake, O.J. Simpson and more. The book includes Edwards’ color sketches, her insider observations, a recap of the highlights (the parade of beautiful call girls during the Fleiss trial) and lowlights (Simpson’s clenched fists while talking about wife Nicole) and a summary of the verdict.

The Da Vinci Code
Decca Records
Composed by movie score heavyweight, Hans Zimmer (Gladiator), this soundtrack is a fittingly serious-minded companion to the thriller. Strings are given heavy play on this score, though French horns rouse the peaceful “CheValiers de Sangreal”. Other standouts are soprano Hila Plitmann’s lonely solo in “Poisoned Chalice” and the final track, the beautiful choral piece “Kyrie for the Magdelene.”

A Prairie Home Companion

New Line Records
The music from Robert Altman’s latest film showcases the spectacular onstage performances by the cast including the toe-tapping fiddle and banjo number “Gold Watch & Chain” performed by Meryl Streep and writer Garrison Keillor, “Whoop-I-Ti-Yi-Yo” featuring the comic singing cowboys played by Woody Harrelson and John C. Reilly, as well as the sweet and stripped down “Frankie and Johnny” by Lindsay Lohan.

Poseidon

Warner Music
The soundtrack to this remake opens with the ballad “Won’t Let You Fall” and the up-tempo “Bailamos”, performed by the Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie during the film’s New Year’s Eve bash. The remaining music (with the exception of the mellow eletronica track “Postales” by DJ Frederico Aubele) is what you’d expect from a big budget disaster score—the song “The Wave” features pounding drums and menacing strings while hopeful sounding horns punctuate the final song, “Escape.”
