  • 2 stars "I was involved in the riot being in the Michigan National Guard. Sunday, July 23, 1967 was the weekend that we had a drill after standing formation in the morning at 6:30 they informed us at seven o'clock if there was a disturbance in Detroit and that would be practicing formations. We were trucked down to Central high school about 1 o'clock and put on the streets about 130 As a native Detroiter The devastation was unbelievable . I thought the movie was the demeaning to those of us envoled by saying Boy Scouts in green uniforms. What about the guardsman that was killed Larry Post. Not many people know that the rifles that we carried were unloaded you were given five rounds in our pocket ."
