Chaos and Desire Movie Synopsis
Alice, a seismologist from Quebec who has been working in Japan is forced to return to Quebec to make sense of a strange phenomenon: the tide at Baie-Comeau has come to a halt. But as soon as she sets foot in the small Northern Quebec town, the scientist’s mission takes an unexpected turn. The place is unbearably humid, people are behaving strangely, a young Chinese girl sleepwalks every night, and the phone number of an attractive fire-fighting tanker plane pilot, Marc Vandal, has been torn out of every phone book in town. Accompanied by her journalist friend Catherine, Alice tries to carry out her survey, while at the same time, she becomes attracted to Marc, who has a mysterious past.
One of those rare films that I wanted to see again -- as soon as it was over. I was haunted by it all the next day.
It was worth staying up till 1 am to see this moody, haunting film. More films like this should be encouraged to be made J W MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA
Haunting, hypnotic, beautifully executed with an emotionally powerful ending.
