A sweeping epic charting the early years of the Civil War and how the campaigns unfolded from Manassas I to the Battle of Fredericksburg, this prequel to the film Gettysburg explores the motivations of the combatants and examines the lives of those who waited at home.
great film ,shows the truth about Jackson the man
great film from a British americain civil war reenactor, but in trailer it shows Pres Lincoln and a sceen with Gen L Chamberlain at a theater where is it in the flim?
This film moved me the first time I saw it and gets deeper into my soul each time I watch it. We are all indebted to everyone worked on this film with the spirit of bringing a part of our history we should never--dare never--forget so vividly to life. Stephen Lang`s portrayal of Stonewall Jackson was amazing. He truly captured all the facets of a very complex man. The wonderful attention to detail really pays off here as it did in Gettysburg; while it takes awhile to get used to what we now consider stilted, formal and sometimes overly-sentimental speech, after awhile you hate to turn the DVD off and return to the modern world.
