Two boys who have grown up together, become infatuated with the same free-spirited girl, whose family leaves their neighborhood when the three friends are in seventh grade. Brian (Norton) grows up to be a priest, while his closest pal, Jake (Stiller), becomes a rabbi.

As adults, they're reunited with Anna (Elfman), who manages to live up to their expectations. She may have become a workaholic and addicted to her cell phone, but when they're together nothing seems amiss.

After a few pregnant glances, her relationship with Jake quickly transcends the platonic level. They don't tell Brian, who is thinking along similar lines and is considering abandoning his vows of chastity for Anna.
