An amateur player from a working class family, Francis Ouimet (
Shia LaBeouf) goes all the way to the 1913 U.S. Open, flanked by his 10-year-old caddie, to play against his idol, the defending British champion Harry Vardon (
Stephen Dillane). An unlikely match-up - "the ingénue versus the seasoned champ" - theirs was the greatest match the sport had ever known. Caught between a world of hardship and a beckoning life of privilege, Francis needed to prove his unfailing will and ability to make it to the tournament.

Canadian Connection: Partly filmed in Montreal, Quebec. Several actors are Canadian, including
Elias Koteas and
Jackie Burroughs.
Sorry guys, but I didn`t think this movie was so hot. I thought that the acting was good, however the storyline is very confusing to follow and the movie was boring at the beginning. On the bright side, Shia Laboeuf did a good job and that caddy (Eddie) was absoloutely fantastic. Overall 3 stars
I thought it would be more of a family moving. My 11 year old is a golf fanatic and enjoyed the second half with all the cool special effects.
It is absolutely a must-watch movie. One of the most emotional family movies in a decade.
