Malik (Tahar Rahim), 19, half Arab, half Corsican, is sentenced to six years in a prison ruled by Arab and Corsican gangs. Illiterate, Malik seems fragile. But he toughens up when the leader of the Corsican gang (Niels Arestrup) gives him a number of "missions" to carry out, including killing an Arab prisoner. Malik is a fast learner—rising up the prison ranks, all the while secretly devising his own plans.

Excellent movie!!!!!! One of the best crime-dramas I've seen in many years.
This is one of those movies that after you're finished watching it, you sit there and say to yourself "wow". A very good, epic crime drama. It's scary to think how accurate this movie is. Amazing acting by the lead male character.
