Widow Anna Leonowens (
Jodie Foster) travels to the royal palace of Siam (Thailand) in the 1860's to work as a governess for the King of Siam's son. Upon arrival, she discovers that the son is actually approximately 58 offspring from his concubines and wives.
As their relationship grows into a deep friendship, one of the kings' concubines is caught with a lover and is condemned to death for her actions.
Anna is repulsed by the slave-owning and lack of human respect and sets out to teach the ruler a few rules of her own, like that of compassion.
a good movie!!bcause anna is a very good character and the king he is a nice guy!! hahah...very good movie..nice one!!
This movie is very weird.......
The movie was really good actually. I`ve been watching it for several times and I really learned a lot. I can relate myself to the feelings of Anna where she have that compassion to the people of Siam. And I can say King Mongkot is very good...I mean it`s not him that holds the law it`s the prime minister I think? Or maybe the counsil...thats totally rude. They kill people who actually good...that`s all...
