In a Belgium steel town, 20-year-old Charles (
Jérémie Renier) gets by with panhandling and petty thievery. When his girlfriend (
Deborah François) gives birth, Charles has no idea how to cope with fatherhood, choosing instead to sell the baby. As usual, the Dardennes show their mastery of small-scale realism, with car engines and honking horns serving as the score.
In French with English subtitles.
It put my personal beliefs into a visual reality. The movie itself not while not brilliant highlighted a spiritual battle we are visually blind to.
OOMADNA! my type of movie... thrilling, religious, conspirital and ...sorry to say it holds slightly true for a family situation of mine (sort of, without all the supermatural stuff).... Im proud to know it was filmed in my town!
Boring when it should have been creepy.
