Blue Car Movie Synopsis
Abandoned by her father and neglected by her mother, an 18-year-old girl turns to her English teacher for solace and inspiration. As the teacher draws out the girl's gift for poetry, his relationship with the girl becomes increasingly complex as emotions surface and tension in her family escalates.
An outstanding movie. It is too bad that the film did not receive more widespread distribution; if it had, I think Agnes Bruckner would have received consideration for numerous Best Actress awards; even as young as she was (I think I read she was only 14 or 15 when she made this film), she was phenomenal.
Honest, moving portrait of that sort of particular vulnerable girl abandoned by her father. The English teacer, too, was so close to type that it brought back with stunning pain my own similar experience at eighteen.A remarkable work. No frills beauty and depth.
