Drowning Mona Movie Synopsis
When Mona (Midler), a longtime resident of Verplanck, drowns after driving her Yugo into the river, chief of police Wyatt Rash (DeVito) examines her car and makes a discovery. Somebody "helped" Mona reach her final destination. Since she had few fans, an investigation implicates the entire town, which pretty much hated her. It's not a matter of who would like to see Mona dead, it's more like who wouldn't?
