In 1792 Madrid, during the Spanish Inquisition, Brother Lorenzo (
Javier Bardem) is an enigmatic, cunning member of the Inquisition’s inner circle who becomes infatuated with the teenage muse (
Natalie Portman) of the celebrated Spanish painter Francisco Goya (Stellan Skarsgard).
When she is falsely accused of heresy and sent to prison, her father asks Lorenzo to secure her release.
Poor Milos must be so embarrased over this pathetic, amateurish production.
I might have rated it higher had it been billed as a comedy.
