Recently divorced, Denise moves into a small apartment in the Montreal neighborhood where she grew up. Having retired from the investment firm she ran with her husband Michel, she now finds herself an object of contempt by not only him but her former colleagues and her son, who has taken her place as financial director of the company. Paul, her next door neighbor, invites her to play poker with him and a group of his friends. Denise finds herself drawn to this seductive alcoholic, his young roommate Eric and her other poker-playing neighbors, forming a new kind of family with them.
