L'auberge rouge Movie Synopsis

Stagecoach travelers who stop at a little Inn in a remote part of France experience a horrible end, killed by the deaf-mute adoptive son of the owners of the establishment. They pocket the valuables and dispose of the corpses. One stormy evening, a countess, her son and daughter-in-law, a notary, a trader, a logger, and a monk arrive. The hostess confesses her crimes to the monk, who is bound by the rules of the Confessional to tell no one. He tries to secure the safety of his fellow passengers without betraying his vows.
