One Man's Hero Movie Synopsis
Based on the true story of the St. Patrick's Brigade, One Man's Hero is set during the Mexican-American War.
Irish-American John Riley deserts his army unit after being denied permission to attend mass.
Swimming across the Rio Grande River into Mexico, Riley joins the Mexican army and leads a rogue unit of 200 men - largely men jailed by the U.S. Army for disobedience - into battle against the States.
Captured and court-martialed by the American military, Riley is horse-whipped and branded with a "D" on his face - forever marking him as a deserter.
I watched the movie, One Man`s Hero on cable before, and it was broadcasted on UPN latenight (I did not watch it during that period), and it was a good movie. Although it has some historical inaccuacies, One Man`s Hero is a symbolic reflection on the period during the US Mexican War 1846-1848. Therefore, I would want to see the movie, again, for enjoyment.
One Man`s Hero was truly an inspirational story that made me realize that it doens`t matter what flag you fight for, or what country you fight for, it just matters what people you fight for.
Viewing it made me want to learn more about this episode in North American history.
