John Frankenheimer helmed one of the best Cold War movies ever made -- The Manchurian Candidate. Now he returns for a look at what's happened with those Cold War warriers without a battle to wage. Seems they're just itching to get back to work and when six of them are assembled in France to snatch a mysterious briefcase, they're all more than happy for the work.
But it turns out this mysterious final mission is actually a set-up designed to eradicate them because the current political administration fears the dark secrets of the past they all know could lead to bad things happening if those secrets were ever revealed. As it slowly dawns on the covert operations men that they've been slated to be terminated, they form an uneasy alliance in the face of the almost insurmountable odds against them.
