Seraphin: Heart of Stone Movie Synopsis
In 1890, in the village of Ste-Adèle, young Donalda Laloge falls in love with Alexis Labranche, who is about to leave the village for a few months, but promises to marry her when he returns. While Alexis is gone, Donalda’s father promises her hand in marriage to the miserly mayor, Séraphin Poudrier, in exchange for a loan that will keep his general store in business. Knowing that she has no choice, the young girl resigns herself to marry the old man, who profits from the poor by taking away their land to build a new railway line. When Alexis returns to Ste- Adèle, Donalda can’t stay away from him.
A grand estoie epic just like Gone With the Wind, under Charles Biname`s masterful direction, this movie will take your breath away. Because of the stellar performances by the gifted actors, scene cinematography and music, we felt as if we were on a journey along with the characters. I have recommended this magnificent film to everyone I know in the States. Linda Rome Houston, Texas
best movie i`ve ever had to watch for school
The movie captured the era and what people had to do to survive. The picnic scene attests to that, work hard and play when you can. The love story was exciting. Alexis and Donelda gave an excellent performance of love and endurance. Job well done.
