The Color of Paradise Movie Synopsis
Mohammed (Ramezani), a blind eight year-old, senses that his presence hinders the courtship by his
widowed father (Mahjub), a poor coal worker, of a much younger new bride
(Zeinati) with a bountiful dowry. Not that the child is alone. He has a
grandmother and two sisters who try to cheer his spirits - and he spends much of
the year at a special school for the handicapped in Tehran.
I enjoyed this movie and the nature and scenery was outstanding. The acting ability of the characters was first rate and the little boy was truly the star of the movie. There should be more movies that are wholesome such as this one. Thank you.
comment"Color of Paradise" is difficult to completely understand at first due to the symbolizm of a country (Iran) I know little about.A boy, blind since birth, has an acute sense of hearing & touch. His grandmother tells him that if he searches for God their hands will touch showing him the color of paradise. A Whippoorwill calls out just before both he & his grand mother die. Their hands turn orange/gold as they die. there are several subtle subplots that seem to be of a spiritual nature that I can only guess at. It is a beautiful film that I will continue to watch until I fully understand it.
