Hester Collyer (Rachel Weisz) leads a privileged life in 1950s London as the beautiful wife of high court judge Sir William Collyer (Simon Russell Beale). To the shock of those around her, she walks out on her marriage to move in with young ex-RAF pilot, Freddie Page (Tom Hiddleston), with whom she has fallen passionately in love.
a dramatic story of an unhappy woman in love with someone who doesn't love her back.
as incredibly beautiful as rachel weisz is, and i absolutely love her acting abilities, this is a major depressing film! it is quiet, slow and just plain depressing watching a clearly oppressed and mentally disturbed woman cope with her broken marriage and infidelity with a 'less than' jerk. go it you want to feel down!
