Ted Cole (
Jeff Bridges), a famous children's book author, and his wife, Marion (
Kim Basinger), find their marriage unravelling after their two sons die in a car accident. When Ted hires a personal assistant who looks exactly like one of their sons, Marion finds herself drawn towards the boy in more ways than one.

I liked it. Plane as it seemed... I liked it. It seemed to have have significant meaning
Surprisingly faithful to the Irving abience - if not totally accuate in terms of characters and plot. Quality work from all three lead actors - direction was okay. Would have like to have seen more of the stunning East Hampton locales that infect the book with the `rotten at the core` sense of decadence that invades Ted Cole`s life and has led him, Marion and Eddie to the horrible denoument.
quite well done if you like stories about 2 very broken people. Parts I really liked, parts I didn`t but it`s worth watching just for Kim and Jeff.
