The Mother Movie Synopsis
May (Anne Reid) is an ordinary grandmother from the suburbs. When her husband dies on a family visit to London, she recedes into the background of her busy, metropolitan children's lives. Stuck in an unfamiliar city far from home, May fears that she has become another invisible old lady whose life is more or less over. Until she falls for Darren, a man half her age who is renovating her son's house and sleeping with her daughter.
Beautiful movie...I saw it for the first time this AM...So true to my life...I`m 60 & he`s 30!
The tightest characters I`ve ever seen. I waited through the titles to see by whom the script, was, and it`s Hanif "Intimacy" Kureishi. Wonderful.
unsettling, distrubing, and at times slow going, it is still a very gripping tale of personal pain and family dysfunction.
