Former childhood friends Joe and Paddy are divided by twenty-five years of misunderstanding. Their friendship ended during a period of conflict in their native Northern Ireland. The two boys lead different lives until Joe returns home twenty-five years later with his twenty-four year old daughter, Patricia. During the time that Joe was away, Paddy married Joe's ex-fiancée Mary.
