Unfair Competition Movie Synopsis
In 1930s Rome, a Catholic man named Umberto makes and sells elegant clothing from his boutique. He feels a professional rivalry with a nearby shopkeeper, a Jew named Leone who also owns a clothing store. Not only that, but Umberto’s eldest son is falling in love with Leone’s youngest daughter. But when Mussolini’s regime moves in and introduces new anti-Jew laws that determine who can open a store and who can’t, the full horror of what is coming becomes apparent, and Umberto develops a friendship with his persecuted neighbor.
