Twenty years after the 1996 murder of six-year-old Colorado beauty pageant contestant JonBenét Ramsey (Payton Lepinski), this made-for-TV movie takes a look at the crime through the little girl's eyes.
She says she doesn't remember anything after she went to bed, but obviously someone took her from her bed. We see her mother Patsy (Julia Campbell) find the ransom note and call the police. Unfortunately, right after the 911 call, she calls her friends and neighbors who come to the house, destroying all possible evidence.
We also see her distracted father John (Michel Gill) make business calls and go through his mail. When he's asked to search the house for clues, he immediately goes to the basement and discovers his daughter's lifeless body. The parents also quickly whisk their son Burke (Kiefer O'Reilly) away before he can be questioned.
What follows is disagreements between the police, who believe the murder was an inside job and the District Attorney's office, which believes an intruder killed the little girl.
