50 Cent denies abusing ex-girlfriend

50 Cent is denying allegations that he attacked his ex-girlfriend and ravaged her home, causing $7,100 in damaged property. The 37-year-old rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, was accused by a prosecutor on Wednesday of the crimes that allegedly took place on June 23 at the woman’s Los Angeles condo. The woman’s name has not been released, but she has been identified as the rapper’s ex-girlfriend of three years and mother of his child. The following statement was released by Jackson’s lawyer Scott Leemon on Thursday: “Curtis Jackson denies these allegations as made against him. It is important to note, Mr. Jackson has not been arrested and there is no warrant outstanding for his arrest. We have been in contact with the LA City Attorney’s Office and are currently conducting our own investigation into these allegations. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not be commenting any further at this time.” Jackson faces five criminal charges, including one count of domestic violence and four counts of vandalism. If he is convicted, he could face five years in jail and $46,000 in fines. ~Alfonso Espina
