Twin sister Elizabeth Olsen makes movie debut

By Alexandra Heilbron on January 7, 2011 | 3 Comments

Elizabeth Olsen, 21, the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, has been named a “New Ingenue” and was listed by Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford, who co-stars with her in an upcoming movie, as one of his faces to watch in 2011 in the upcoming Discovery Issue of V magazine. Years ago, she played minor roles in the Olsen twins’ videos as their pesky kid sister, but other than that, unlike them, she enjoyed a relatively normal childhood, out of the spotlight. Now, after studying drama at NYU and working as an understudy both on and off Broadway, she’s been landing leading roles in major motion pictures opposite actors such as Jane Fonda, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Catherine Keener and Hugh Dancy in the upcoming movies Peace, Love, & Misunderstanding and Martha Marcy May Marlene. In her interview with V magazine, which hits newsstands January 11th, Elizabeth said she didn’t act in her teens because she wanted to “let the professional acting wait until I felt confident and comfortable.”

I had no idea the Olsen twins had a younger sister, let alone one who’s an actress! She looks a lot like them! Anyone heard of her before?

The way they have the title worded, they aren’t twins, they’re triplets.

I remember her from the Olsen’s detective videos. There’s one in which they’re heading out to solve a mystery, and Lizzie wants to come. They break into song of course, and one of the lines, I have never been able to get out of my head “Hasta la vista, baby sister” (pronounced seestah). Every time I hear someone say Hasta la vista, I think “baby seestah.” Argh!!!!! And that’s probably why I remember her.
