Angelina Jolie collaborates with Coen brothers

Angelina Jolie has signed up Joel and Ethan Coen to rewrite the screenplay for her next directorial effort, called Unbroken. It’s the big-screen adaptation of the Laura Hillenbrand bestseller about American track star Louis Zamperini, a World War II pilot who was shot down over the Pacific and then captured as a prisoner of war by the Japanese, who tortured him and held him captive for two years. Previous versions of the script, before Jolie signed on as director, were written by William Nicholson and Richard LaGravenese. The Coen brothers have received five Oscar nominations for their screenplays, winning twice for No Country For Old Men and Fargo. Jolie is excited about this new film and when she signed on as director last December, she released a statement that read: “I was so moved by Louie Zamperini’s heroic story, I immediately began to fight for the opportunity to make this film. Louie is a true hero and a man of immense humanity, faith and courage. I am deeply honored to have the chance to tell his inspiring story.”– Carlos Laron

Sounds interesting. The story sounds legit enough to see.

Yes on the Coens, but her first stint as a director was awful, I don’t have much hope for this one. She should stick to act… no, she should stick to her charity work. That’s where she can do the most good.

Huge respect for the work of the Coen Brothers…but have absolutely no respect for this woman….will probably give it a miss.

Since she says she wrote the script for her first movie in two days why doesn’t she write the script for this movie.

Forgot to mention she said while she was sick with flu she wrote the script for her first movie in two days.

Poor Angelina, trying to coast on the Coen brothers talent. She and Brad really need to retire from Hollywood…like they keep promising every year. Their best days are well behind them.
