Drew Barrymore calls Ellen Page “the real deal”

Drew BarrymoreDrew Barrymore had nothing but praise for Canadian actress Ellen Page at today’s TIFF conference to promote her new movie, Whip It. Though Page is best known for her starring role in the American film Juno, Barrymore says she had the actress on her radar before the movie came out. “I actually asked her to do this movie before she even shot ‘Juno’ so getting to watch her go through that journey I was just so excited for her,” said Barrymore, a first time director, who also plays a role in the film. “Ellen is the real deal,” she added. “She’s one of the most talented actresses on the planet and she’s young, but she’s very wise and you know, she’s an old soul. And that was part of her character, being a new person coming into this world, but she’s quite the unique individual and we just all fell in love with her.” Whip It, which premieres tonight, also screens Monday at 11 a.m. at the Visa Screening Room (Elgin) and on Friday at 12 p.m. at Ryerson.

man, i completely agree with drew barrymore about ellen page. she is dead on. i have always admired ellens strengths and acting ability. i have been totally in love with her since i watched hard candy. has anyone saw hard candy? if not i totally recommend it. and an american crime she did a fantastic job at acting like a tortured person, it was so believable, i had soo much sympathy for her character. it really got to me, especially since that movie was based on a true story. i will watch any movie that this girl is in.
