Emma Watson newest UN Goodwill Ambassador

By Tribute on July 8, 2014 | 4 Comments

Emma Watson, known best for portraying Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series, has been appointed a Goodwill Ambassador with the United Nations, it was announced today. Emma, who holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Brown University, previously visited Bangladesh and Zambia to help with humanitarian efforts and has been involved in the promotion of girls’ education for several years. Now she’ll be helping the empowerment of young women by acting as Goodwill Ambassador in campaigns such as HeForShe, which promotes gender equality.

Emma responded to the announcement, saying, “Being asked to serve as UN Women’s Goodwill Ambassador is truly humbling. The chance to make a real difference is not an opportunity that everyone is given and is one I have no intention of taking lightly. Women’s rights are something so inextricably linked with who I am, so deeply personal and rooted in my life that I can’t imagine an opportunity more exciting. I still have so much to learn, but as I progress I hope to bring more of my individual knowledge, experience and awareness to this role.” ~Andrea Hodgins

Gotta admit she’s a pretty silly choice! Is this a joke?

Why a silly choice?…She’s perfectly acceptable and will bring attention to the issues.

You’re the joke, don’t be jealous that noone wants you to be ambassador of anything. You just be content in the background making irrelevant comments. humph
