One lucky fan has won the chance to be seated next to The Great Gatsby star Leonardo DiCaprio in a rocket ship that will launch into space. The opportunity came with a price, a winning bid of $1.5 million at the Cannes Film Festival during the amFAR Cinema against AIDS charity auction Thursday night. The fan also spent another $1.5 million for a complete “Oscars experience” that includes attendance to the premiere of Leonardo’s upcoming film with director Martin Scorsese, The Wolf of Wall Street, and a date with Heidi Klum. Another couple secured seats on the Virgin Galactic ship for an auctioned price of $2.3 million. All three winners will get the chance to spend three days with Leonardo while training in Texas. The voyage that was initially listed as a “once-in-a-lifetime trip to space with a mystery guest,” was revealed after the sale to be Leonardo. The charity event raised $25 million for the cause Thursday evening, $14 million more than last year. ~Rebecca Raveendran
