Father of MJ’s accuser commits suicide

By Alexandra Heilbron on November 18, 2009 | 33 Comments

michael_jacksonEvan Chandler, the father of Jordan Chandler, who accused Michael Jackson of molestation, shot himself in the head in his New Jersey apartment, according to the Daily News. Chandler, who was 65, was found with the gun still in his hand, according to Stan Eason, a Jersey City police spokesman. The suicide happened November 5th, but was just made public late yesterday. Chandler was reportedly seriously ill and was scheduled to see a hematologist. The doctor called police when his client didn’t show up for an appointment. In 1993, Chandler, a dentist, dosed his 13-year-old son Jordan with amytal sodium, a barbiturate known to cause false memory syndrome. Jordan received an out-of-court settlement for $15,332,250 from Jackson. Though the money provided the Chandlers with a life of luxury, all was not smooth sailing. In 2006, Jordan filed for a restraining order against Evan, claiming his father had attacked him with a dumbbell. Jordan, now 29, lives in Long Island under an assumed name and had not been in contact with his father for years.

Tributegirl: I think that since MJ’s death and the so-called ‘Jordan confession’, that there was probably a criminal investigation into the matter and he probably felt the pressure from that and knew he was going to lose everything and go to prison. On the other hand, another scenario would be the fact that Mama Jackson just inherited alot of “get even” money from Michael’s estate…dun dun dun, and the plot thickens! LOL.

  2. tributegirl • November 18, 2009 @ 9:44 PM

LOL you never know, Nancy! Either, or!
I expect he was facing prison and was scared. Also, if his own son has turned against him, that would probably play pretty heavily on his mind. Although he didn’t mind almost sending an innocent man to prison, didn’t mind drugging his child, obviously had NO morals whatsoever!
Course, then again, the Mama J. idea is also possible!

  3. mandee • November 18, 2009 @ 11:20 PM

i think he killed himself because he feels guilty for causing mj so many problems.

  4. demigod • November 19, 2009 @ 4:20 AM

    You nailed it Mandee.

  5. Steve • November 19, 2009 @ 10:42 AM

I think Jordan should have to give back the money Jackson gave him to the family or beeter yet a charity which helps children and their families.

  6. tributegirl • November 19, 2009 @ 9:45 PM

Since when do doctors call the police when a client doesn’t show for an appointment?

  7. tributegirl • November 19, 2009 @ 9:49 PM

And I don’t know, mandee, I don’t really think it was guilt. After all, it’s been what, 20 years? If he was going to feel that guilty, I would have thought it would have happened long ago. I think what he was feeling was fear. He knew he’d been caught.

  8. Kim • November 20, 2009 @ 12:40 AM

It may have been 20 years, but MJ was alive during that time. When MJ died and it became obvious that he’d had severe emotional stress and problems sleeping since being accused of such heinous acts, and wound up dead as a direct result, maybe that finally made Evan clue in that he not only cheated MJ of money, but cost him his life. If he’d only cost him money, that would be bearable, because MJ had lots of money, but to have cost him his life, if I were Chandler, that would’ve been a heavy burden.

Scenario #3…”Chandler was reportedly seriously ill and was scheduled to see a hematologist.”

I’d guess he was a dead man walking anyways. His hematologist must have thought so too considering, as Tributegirl pointed out from the article, that the Dr. called the police when Chandler never showed up for his scheduled appointment.

  10. demigod • November 20, 2009 @ 4:08 AM

Exactly Kim. Evan clearly had mental problems as well..drugging/abusing his son, and I believe accusing MJ falsely of molestation.
His suicide soon after MJ’s death is telling-guilt.

  11. Diogenes • November 20, 2009 @ 12:10 PM

You people are monsters. This is a 65-year-old man killing himself because he had a terminal disease. There is nothing funny about it – there shouldn’t be any “LOLs”
Jackson was a drug addict who invited children to sleep in his bed and, by his own admission, gave them booze. He was a genius but he was also seriously messed up.

  12. Balthazar • November 20, 2009 @ 12:44 PM

    Here here Diogenes and Nancy!
You people are a bunch of little minded fools who are so wrapped in the creation of rumors that you have missed the plain and clear message of the article, the man was sick and certainly going to die. He hastened the process!
He was not feeling any guilt at all over what his past perceived wrongs were, he had learned to live with it $15,000,000 worth! MJ’s Mom never hired anyone to off him! You are a bunch of sad simpletons!
Rumor and innuendo are the offspring of fools! Kill your children fools!

R.I.P. MJ After all he is the only one who knows the truth. Let it rest, get on with our own lives. If you have nothing good to say shutup. Thank you

  14. mandee • November 20, 2009 @ 4:07 PM

whats a hematologist? i have no idea what they deal with. i still believe it was guilt though. tg, if someone recently died and you were guilty of wrongfully accusing them of say raping you so you could become rich and you found out their death had to do with stress etc, wouldnt you feel guilty? would you be able to live with yourself afterwords? im not saying he wasnt sick and that his sickness wasnt a contributing factor as well, but i still believe his main reason was based solely on the fact that he had been a part of ruining another persons life. even after this mans son came forward and admitted that his dad made him lie, look at all the people that are still DEAD SET on calling this man a child molester. this guy SHOULD have felt guilt.

Balthazar on November 20, 2009 12:44 PM why come on here to insult people that have a differing opinion than yours? as far as im concerned youre the “little minded fool”.

  15. tributegirl • November 20, 2009 @ 4:35 PM

I see what you are saying, mandee, but it just doesn’t feel right to me. He didn’t care about taking another man’s money, ruining another man’s reputation, and possibly having that man thrown in jail. Those things right there pretty much ruined MJ’s life, and Evan didn’t seem to care. It was obvious that MJ was messed up from that first accusation, and still Evan didn’t care enough to do something to try to right that wrong.
Seeing a hematologist doesn’t mean that he was dying, maybe he was, maybe he wasn’t, but I still think he did this because he was scared of the punishment he thought he would be facing.

  16. Nancy • November 20, 2009 @ 5:16 PM

Mandee, a hematologist is a Dr. that deals with the blood, blood producing organs and bone marrow. Supposedly, according to the article, Chandler was “seriously ill”. He could have any of a number of things wrong with him…including leukemia.

  17. Nancy • November 20, 2009 @ 5:17 PM

It just seems funny, that of ALL the days to kill himself, why the day of his Dr. appointment?

  18. mandee • November 20, 2009 @ 5:29 PM

thanks for telling me what it is! maybe he just didnt want to get the results? maybe he was afraid of what was wrong with him?

  19. Fraydeecat • November 21, 2009 @ 1:05 AM

Just because this guy commits suicide, why does it suddenly mean M.J. was not a child molester after all? One thing has nothing to do with the other. He was seriously ill. He had also alienated his son against him. His son has over 15 Million of Jackson’s money but hadn’t spoken to his father for years and took out a restraint order against him. Most likely he was trying to get money from his son to pay for treatments regarding his “serious” blood illness. They did not screw up M.J.’s life, M.J. did very well screwing his own self up without anyone’s help or accusations. This accusation is something that repeatedly resurfaced and M.J. could not make it go away with hush money payments. The damage Evan did to the relationship with his son was irrevocable, and that alone could be cause for suicide.

  20. demigod • November 21, 2009 @ 5:41 AM

I never believed MJ was a diddler. He’s had women. Sure he was odd, and at times used poor judgment. He never had much of a childhood, and that youthful exuberance/playfulness spilled into his adult life. He oftentimes preferred the company of kids, who perhaps related better to. He built an amusement park/zoo dedicated to entertaining kids and having fun. He gave to children’s charities.
Some people just like to believe the worse about him..usually over-protective,paranoid and OPPORTUNISTIC parents.

  21. demigod • November 21, 2009 @ 5:46 AM

Re the article, Evan was dying because he’s OLD! Probably been dying for years. Probably had dr. appts every week. Probably been seeing MJ’s ghost! lol

  22. mandee • November 21, 2009 @ 9:31 AM

Fraydeecat on November 21, 2009 1:05 AM who are you to say he was a child molester? did you personally know mj or any of his alleged victims? considering this kid said HIMSELF that he was never molested by mj and that his father MADE HIM lie to get the money that alone should prove his innocence. if you are a child molester youre not going to have your house/amusement park FULL of children and only molest 2 of them. ive only heard of 3 that came forward and one already admitted it was a lie for the money. who cares if he liked the company of children better than the company of adults. do you accuse child care workers of molestation because they clearly also enjoy the company of children over adults? if they didnt, they would work as a personal support worker looking after adults. i wonder how anyone can accuse someone of being a child molester just because he went out of his way to make other peoples children happy. he dedicated his life, his time, his money and his home to children so they could have fun and be happy. why does this make him a criminal?

  23. Linda • November 21, 2009 @ 12:04 PM

fraydeecat, I think MJ being aquitted means he was not a child molester.. As far as I know, innocent until proven guilty and he was not proven guilty. Don’t play God here. It’s a sad day when people are dead and dying and people have to dig up old trash.

  24. dee • November 21, 2009 @ 2:29 PM

Im glad the father died. He’s was a f–idiot I new MJ didn’t do that The money should be given back to the Jackson family’s kids…Even if Even new he didn’t do it why go into hiding the chicken shit if Evan was told to do it buy his father he should come clean especially now that his dad is where he should be dead…

  25. mandee • November 21, 2009 @ 10:02 PM

evan already did tell everyone that his dad made him lie about mj and that he wasnt really molested.

  26. tributegirl • November 22, 2009 @ 1:30 PM

Evan is the father, Jordan is the son. You’re right mandee, Jordan did tell everyone that his father made him say that, and that it wasn’t true. What I think is the biggest shame there is that he said it AFTER MJ died, and could not apologize. I imagine it has been eating away at Jordan for years, but I also think he should give the money back to MJ’s kids.

dee, I also agree with you, I’m glad Evan is dead, he was obviously sick and twisted, he drugged his own child and made him lie about something extremely serious for financial gain, without care about who would get hurt.

Fradeecat, no one is saying that MJ was innocent BECAUSE Evan killed himself.

  27. mandee • November 22, 2009 @ 3:55 PM

ohh lol. ive been mixed up with things a lot lately huh? thanks for clearing that up tg! i never really paid attention to who was who, and its been a while since i actually read the article. i think jordan was afraid that he would be charged if he came forward, im not sure i agree with giving back the money though. i can see why it seems like it would be the right thing to do, but you have to remember it wasnt exactly jordans fault. sure he could have told the truth but a)he was drugged b)im sure he was terrified of his father c)he was just a child then and children lie d)the money he has im sure his father gave him so it may not be considered mjs money :S i dont know. those are just my thoughts on why he shouldnt be expected to give back the money.

  28. Nancy • November 22, 2009 @ 4:50 PM

He probably hardly got any of the money. Probably Evan took most of it before his step son, Jordan, even turned 18.

  29. mandee • November 22, 2009 @ 10:16 PM

thats what i figured. it probably wasnt even mjs money jordan got in the end.

  30. tributegirl • November 23, 2009 @ 5:53 PM

Step-son? Jordan wasn’t Evan’s biological son? I thought he was! Well then, that would mean that he drugged somebody ELSE’S child and made them lie!

  31. Nancy • November 23, 2009 @ 9:14 PM

I believe so. Remember when Tribute had the article on here a couple months ago about a Youtube video in which Jordan said that Evan made him lie? It said in that article that he was his step father.

  32. Nancy • November 23, 2009 @ 11:15 PM

Actually, I checked that article and my bad, it wasn’t written in the article itself, it was mentioned as someone’s comment on that article. So, I guess he is Jordan’s biological father but met Michael Jackson through a step father. Sorry for the mis-info.

  33. tributegirl • November 25, 2009 @ 2:19 PM

hahaha, that’s ok, we’ll forgive you!
