Guardians of the Galaxy director teases new team for fourth film

Guardians of the Galaxy franchise director, James Gunn, revealed that for the fourth installment of the franchise he’d be interested in presenting a new team of characters.
After confirming he’ll be back to write and direct the third Guardians film, James told The Toronto Sun that because the film’s story is built as a trilogy, a fourth film would give him the freedom to introduce a whole new galaxy-saving team: “I think the first three movies tell a single story and that story is pretty simple. I think that there could be a Guardians Vol. 4, but it would not be the same. It would not be the same group… basically the story of this group ends with Vol. 3.”
Slight spoiler alert here (so you might want to stop reading!), but we may have an idea of who this new team could be thanks to one of the many after-credits scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It was confirmed that one of the scenes show some of the original galaxy-defending characters from the comics, such as: Stakar Ogord (Sylvester Stallone), Aleta Ogord (Michelle Yeoh), Charlie-27 (Ving Rhames), Krugarr, Mainframe (Miley Cyrus) and Martinex (Michael Rosenbaum).
James goes on to say that, for him, it’s ultimately about establishing the groundwork to continue the franchise for future generations: “I will be helping to plant the seeds that will lead to the next decade. I’m helping to decide what projects we’ll be pursuing outside of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3… and what the next cosmic characters will focus on.”
With Guardians characters appearing in Avengers: Infinity War, and the film presenting the strong possibility that certain characters will be “killed off,” it offers a good chance to usher in a new set of characters or new presentations of current ones. Either way, we’ll have to wait it out and see how the films unfold to determine what could be coming next.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5, with Avengers: Infinity War releasing nearly one year later on May 4, 2019.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘The Suicide Squad’ director James Gunn admitted during an interview that he’s bored by recently released superhero movies.
Sylvester Stallone and Miley Cyrus instead of Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana? Nope.
Ditto for me!!! As a movie lover I definitely do not want to see NEW characters!! Why do they take a good solid idea then want to change it up with new and younger characters?? They did this with a couple of other movie franchises and they bombed! I will definitely not see the 4th installment!! No Way!
Plenty of time to change course, but the ideas Gunn suggests this time just give me one more reason to drop out after GOTG 3. These lineup changes happen, just as sports team lineups do, or for that matter personnel changes at a job. But in all instances, capricious changes frequently don’t work.
I think Infinity War will be the best Marvel movie ever made. A few heroes will die though.
