Harry Potty and the Deathly Boring – a spoof

If you’re a Harry Potter fan and you don’t mind it when someone pokes a little fun at the books, you may enjoy the new graphic novel called Harry Potter and the Deathly Boring. It’s a parody featuring Harry and his friends,  Don Measley and Whiny Stranger. It starts off with the Minister of Cabbage giving the three teens items that were bequeathed to them by Dumb-as-a-Door. Not only does Harry not know how to fight the evil wizard Valuemart and the Odor-eaters with what’s been left to them, he doesn’t remember what happened in the previous books. To refresh Harry’s memory, Whiny gives a recap, using the spell “Rememberallthisstufficus!” She starts with The Sorcerer Gets Stoned through Pain in My Asskaban, Omelette on Fire (in which Harry accidentally kills another student and blames it on Valuemart), The Border of Phoenix and so on. Along with characters such as Seriously Black, Haggard, Flight teacher McGonagain and Robby the Mouse Elf (complete with mousketeer ears), Harry (whose scar keeps changing), tries to avenge the death of his parents and save his school, Nosewarts.

Some of the puns are funnier than others, but if you’re a fan, it’s very entertaining to see the characters and situations spoofed. The book is 64 colour pages and retails at $7.99 for softcover and $12.50 in hardcover.  ~Alexandra Heilbron

Thanks for the nice review, I’m glad you like the book. I did spend most of this past Spring illustrating it–but it’s fine– that’s what I like to do. I would like to point out that it’s $6.99 in softcover and $10.99 in the US. Why do things always seem to cost more in Canada?

Fashionable football fans rejoice because there are many designers and brands that have stylish small clutches; just enough room for money, license, chapstick and ticket.
