The nominations for the Canadian Screen Awards were announced yesterday, honoring the top talent in films and television. The award show brings the Genie film awards and the Gemini television awards together on one platform for the second year in a row. Leading this year’s nominations in the film category is the Denis Villeneuve-directed Enemy, starring Jake Gyllenhaal. The film scored ten nominations, including nods for best film, best director, best screenplay and best actor. Also up for best actor is Daniel Radcliffe for the romantic comedy The F Word. The science-fiction series Orphan Black lead the TV nominations with 14 nods. Canadian-filmed The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones was awarded the Cineplex Golden Reel Award for best homegrown box office. This year’s awards include 123 categories: 94 television, 22 film and seven digital media. The Canadian Screen Awards will be hosted by Martin Short and broadcast on CBC on Sunday, March 9. ~Marriska Fernandes
