Adam Levine and Christina GrimmieAdam Levine has offered to cover late singer Christina Grimmie’s funeral expenses, according to her brother Marcus’ Facebook page.

The Maroon 5 singer, who was Christina’s coach on the hit reality series The Voice, contacted her family over the weekend after news broke that she was brutally shot and murdered on Friday evening (June 10).

“I found out this morning that Adam Levine personally called my mother and said he will pay for her funeral and her plane flight, and I was blown away,” he wrote.

He also thanked those who contributed to the GoFundMe page that Christina’s manager Brian Teefey set up, which has now topped $125,000.

“Words cannot express,” Marcus continued. “Words cannot express…literally I have no words. I promise both my parents and I will read every one of these personalized messages. I’m so blown away by everything right now. But all I can say is thank you. And Christina will be missed and never ever forgotten.”

Christina, who finished third on the sixth season of The Voice, was signing autographs for fans outside the Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida after a concert when Kevin James Loibl, 27, approached and shot her. She had just finished opening for the pop-rock band Before You Exit. After the shots were fired, Loibl attempted to flee but was tackled by the singer’s brother. Lobi then fatally shot himself.

Christina was rushed to hospital, where she was eventually pronounced dead. She was 22 years old.

Adam shared his grief on Twitter following the tragedy:
