Aggressive American anchors attack Paper Towns star Cara Delevigne during live interview

By Alexandra Heilbron on July 30, 2015 | 20 Comments

TV anchors from the talk show Good Morning Sacramento attacked Paper Towns actress Cara Delevingne when she didn’t appear bubbly enough for them, answering some of their more stupid questions with dry humor.

First, the female anchor, Marianne McClary, introduces her as “Carla,” and when she asks if Cara had time to read the book the movie is based on, Cara, who’s appearing via a satellite feed that seems to have a slight time delay, jokes, “No, I never read the book. Or the script, actually, I kind of winged it.” Both anchors laugh, and then she adds, “No, of course I read the book, I think the book’s amazing. John Green is an incredible author.”

The male anchor, Ken Rudulph, remarks that Cara seems to be very busy, doing project after project, then asks, “Do you find it’s easier to focus because you’re so busy, if you had down time it wouldn’t be so easy for you? What do you think?” Cara, who looks perplexed by the strange question, hesitates, then answers, “No. I don’t know where that comes from.” She then laughs and adds good-naturedly, “No, I think it’s not easier to focus. I mean, I love what I do… it’s been my passion since I was young, so it’s not too hard.”

After another question, which Cara answers with humor, a second male interviewer, Mark S. Allen, suddenly shows up to the left of Marianne and asks, “I saw you in London talking a couple of weeks ago on TV and you seemed a lot more excited about it than you do right now, are you just exhausted?”

Cara looks surprised, then answers, “Oooh. No, I mean, I’m still very excited, the premiere was last night, it was an emotional night…but I’m not any less excited than I was a couple of weeks ago.” She then adds in a joking tone, “Maybe I had a bit more energy. It’s the morning. Don’t be mean.” She laughs.

Marianne says, “You do seem a bit irritated. Perhaps it’s just us.”

Cara looks incredulous, then jokes, “Yeah, yeah, I think it’s just you. Thank you.”

Marianne comes back with, “Well, we’ll let you go then, how about that? We’ll let you go take a nap, maybe have a Red Bull. How about that?”

Cara looks gobsmacked and when the satellite feed shuts off, they continue to mock and criticize her. Watch the interview and tell us what you think.[poll id=”848″]

I don’t know what bee was up their bonnet but she was trying to be funny. She told them she was at the premiere the night before, which means there was probably a party afterwards, meaning she was up late. She was probably just tired, is that not allowed? There’s no excuse for three adults to attack a young girl like that. I think the female anchor was the worst, she obviously didn’t like Cara going in to the interview and had it in for her.

The interviewer’s are your typical American puff piece puppet’s trying so hard to be funny in that 1950’s TV way that the American public has had to deal with on most stations coast to coast since the 50’s. It’s as if these American broadcaster’s believe that the people of America would be unable to comprehend a real conversation if it were to take place. They should drop the act and treat people that they’re interviewing as well as the viewing public with some respect and common decency. What a joke I felt so sorry for Cara, so “white” washed. The worst part for me was the African American gentleman who was displaying that typical “white” washed American act with such ease, he’s been doing it for so long now it’s probably hard to turn off when he goes home at night. I just watch and shake my head, it’s so sad to see the American public being force fed the same old same old. The funniest part of the interview for me was when they all started cutting up Cara after she was off the air, just like a bunch of high school or college kids in a clique because in reality they’re all secretly jealous of Cara, each wishing that they’re lives were even a fraction as exciting and successful. Such a shameful and unintelligent interview, poor Cara, she must have had to endure a hundred of these puppet’s interviewing her in the same manner for the movie and was just numb to the act by the time she got to these puppets. Chin up Cara, just smile for the camera’s, it’s part of the job I suppose.

What kind of questions were those? I mean, the black guy was like, Do you work better when you never get a break? That was the stupidest question ever. Of course not, everyone needs a break. However, Cara needs media training so she doesn’t look like she thinks the question is stupid, but just answer the question as if it you didn’t understand it. Example: Interviewer: Do you work better when you never get a break?” Cara: “I absolutely love what I do, it’s been my lifelong dream and I couldn’t be happier with how everything is going.” She kind of went into that, but first made a face like “What did he ask” and then tried to actually answer his idiotic question. And the beauty of it is, the interviewer won’t realize she didn’t answer his question, he’ll just think she’s charming. 🙂

They’re what, 40? And they were picking on a young girl who’s just appeared in her first movie. Shame on them, they’re nothing but bullies. Especially the woman who was telling her to take a nap and have a red bull. I hope their boss rakes them over the coals and the movie studio never allows any other talent to appear on that show.

What a complete lack of class on their parts. Once they “dismissed” her so rudely (“We’ll let you go take a nap, maybe have a Red Bull. How about that?” I mean, what the hell kind of way is that to thank someone for taking the time to talk to you?), they should have shut up instead of talking about her behind her back. Completely unprofessional, they should all be fired.

These anchors acted like total asses. I’ve never heard such rudeness during an interview and I thought she acted extremely professionally considering such unwarranted attacks. These people should find jobs better suited for them like, maybe, trolling the internet…

  7. Janet • July 30, 2015 @ 1:08 PM

Some of these “hosts” just know how to smile and ask really stupid questions. British, dry humour is way above their intelligence level.

  8. anon • July 30, 2015 @ 1:33 PM

These a**holes are anchors????? That is a big joke!

  9. Mickey • July 30, 2015 @ 2:12 PM

She could and should have handled it much better. She’s promoting a movie for which she was paid rather well, so she should try to be nice even when the questions are lacking.

  10. Leks • July 30, 2015 @ 2:23 PM

Whatever. They may have gotten a little carried away at the end but she was being super awkward.
She was acting like another Kristen Stewart. I don’t care if the premiere was the night before. It’s your job & you’re getting paid to do it. Plus it was good morning “Sacremento” in California so obviously it was earlier there than it was in NYC where she was joining them from.
If she wasn’t to be an actress she needs to do better than that. She wasn’t coming across as sarcastic she was coming off as a bitch. She just seemed uninterested.

  11. Lilliana • July 30, 2015 @ 2:51 PM

I strongly disagree with you Mickey and Leks, when your not use to the world of movie fame it can come so suddenly and be awkward at first so I understand if she was tired, movie premiers are no walk in the park you dumb idiots. Just becuase she made money doesn’t automatically mean your going to jump right into the right kind of professionalism. I really don’t think you would come close to understanding. She is young and need’s more experience, and she will get there with time. Those anchors were indeed very unprofessional and lacked any sign of class. You too must be idiots (or also jealous) to not see that. Cleary she was not expecting them to act like that, I too would be thrown off by that and not know how to deal with a situation like that. It’s unfortunate that horrible tastless anchors like that have jobs.

  12. Lilliana • July 30, 2015 @ 2:54 PM

And yes I know I made spelling mistakes in my last comment, so if that makes me an idiot I would gladly own up to it.

  13. Rick • July 30, 2015 @ 2:59 PM

Typical. These News/Entertainment anchors are just not professional at interviewing celebrities. It almost seems like they purposely try and embarrass the actors. Perhaps even get a rise out of them. I still like the way Robert Downey Jr walked out in the middle of his interview (I think it was somewhere in Europe…correct me if I am wrong).
I realize that interviews and promotions are part of the package, in regards to actors, however, the person doing the interview should show some tact and respect. He or she would be surprised just how good of an interview they would get, if only they behaved in a professional manner. They don’t have to be serious throughout the interview, just a little humor could relax the interviewee. But again, this is California, probably most of the anchor people would like to get recognized when interviewing celebrities.

  14. Leks • July 30, 2015 @ 4:48 PM

    wants*
lol. Made spelling mistakes too. I wish you could edit on this thing.

  15. Leks • July 30, 2015 @ 4:54 PM

Ok Lilliana no need to call us “dumb idiots” for stating an opinion. My point is that she acted uninterested from the very beginning. It’s not like she’s not use to the fame. She is a supermodel. It’s not like she just came out of nowhere & is inexperienced with these kind of things. I understand why the anchors got that vibe off her, mind you they made it worse.

I hate committing on these sorts of things online because no matter what your opinion is someone will attack you for it.

  16. Mack • July 30, 2015 @ 8:43 PM

oh boohoo – someone was mean to me.

  17. Rob • July 31, 2015 @ 10:43 AM

If I were the anchors I would’ve called her a bitch and ended the interview after her first answer. There’s no need for her excessively rude sarcasm.

  18. Eve • August 1, 2015 @ 10:40 PM

They called her “Carla” ahahah ok… They were not really professional.

  19. RobertCop • August 5, 2015 @ 4:01 PM

I know this isn’t how the internet works, but..

If you TV “personalities” [not anchors, Walter Cronkite is an anchor.] are reading this: You introduced her with the wrong name-didnt notice and then proceeded to ask a bunch of idiotic and insulting questions in a glib, arrogant tone. You three grown men and women then proceeded to trash talk her on air after. Classy move you bunch of nobodies.

I think she reacted pretty well to being treated like an ass on national television. I would have done worse than that.

Very painful to watch… poor Cara the presenters are all PATHETIC smfh
