Amanda Bynes’ lawyer seeks payment

Amanda BynesAmanda Bynes‘ lawyer wants to be paid. The She’s the Man star hired Artemio Santiago while she was a patient at a medical facility in Pasadena last October, a time when the attorney says she was a ”mess” and refusing to take her medication and now the lawyer wants to be paid $16,000 for his services.

Legal documents obtained by TMZ show Santiago claims he managed to get his troubled client to take her medication again and became like an ”attendant” to her, bringing personal items such as ballet shoes, tights, DVDs and books to her.

Amanda’s parents – who have control of her personal and professional affairs via a conservatorship – have argued that their daughter didn’t have the mental capacity to hire a lawyer at that time so are fighting the pay out.

And it seems a court may agree as last October, a judge ruled Lynn Bynes should remain as Amanda’s conservator, despite the actress’ objection, because he felt the star lacked the capacity to enter into a binding contract or hire a lawyer.

Amanda spent five months in a treatment facility in July 2013 when she was placed under involuntary psychiatric hold for the first time.

She was released in December and appeared to be getting her life back on track until her previous conservatorship came to an end last September, and she was involuntarily admitted to hospital a few weeks later.
