American Sniper starring Bradley Cooper in an Academy Award-nominated performance took the top spot at the weekend box office, earning an astonishing amount estimated at $90.2 million and 4.4 stars from Tribute.ca readers. That makes it the largest opening to date for a film directed by Clint Eastwood.
The Wedding Ringer starring Kevin Hart took second place with $21 million. The comedy ranks high with 5 stars from Tribute.ca readers.
The family film Paddington, about the lovable bear from Peru was a popular choice for families with children. It wound up in third place with $19.3 million and a 4.54 Tribute.ca star rating.
Last week’s number one film, Taken 3 starring Liam Neeson, dropped three spots to fourth place, earning an additional $14.1 million at the weekend box office and a 3.48 star rating from Tribute.ca readers.
