Emmy host Andy Samberg dished out his HBO video steaming login details, slammed Donald Trump, mocked Jon Hamm and had viewers in tears during his opening monologue at the award ceremony last night.
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star kicked off the 67th annual event with a hilarious video skit about binge-watching the nominated TV shows, before he hopped onto the stage at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles and had the audience in hysterics as he threw out perfectly-timed jokes.
He quipped: ”The Emmys are all about celebrating the best in television, so sorry, books, not tonight!”
As the evening went on, Andy, 37, let loose a little more with his wit, even taking a jibe at presidential hopeful Trump.
He said: ”Donald Trump is running for president, to the delight of uncles everywhere. I’ve got to say, sure, Donald Trump seems racist…wait what else?”
Referring to Jon Hamm‘s Mad Men character Don Draper’s real identity, Dick Whitman, he added: ”My friend Jon Hamm was nominated for Mad Men for the last time. But don’t worry, after the success of Better Call Saul, I’m sure Jon will be nominated for the upcoming Mad Men prequel: Dick Whitman Horny Hobo.”
After taking a swipe at many other stars, including Glee‘s Jane Lynch, comedienne Amy Schumer and celebrity chef Paula Deen, the handsome host left viewers stunned as he gave out his username and password for HBO Now.
He divulged: ”Luckily for you, the CEO of HBO recently said he doesn’t think password-sharing for their streaming services is a problem. So here’s my HBO Now login.”
The details flashed up on screen and he added: ”The password? password1. Gotta have a number in there throw them off the scent.”
Andy, who previously hosted the MTV Movie Awards in 2009, and the Independent Spirit Awards in 2010, warned viewers earlier this year they would be in for a ”wild ride” when he takes the helm of the primetime ceremony.
