Ben Affleck: Actors treat me differently

By Tribute News on November 1, 2012 | 7 Comments

Ben Affleck Ben Affleck is regarded as an "asshole" now that he's a director. The Argo star admits his fellow actors have changed the way they treat him since he began working behind the camera. He said: "I'm not one of the guys any more. I remember I was walking over to the house guests and I heard one of the guys talking about getting stoned - I think somebody had brought something into the house - and as I arrived everybody clammed up. I thought, 'When did I become this guy? What am I, the dad?' I'm an asshole all of a sudden." Ben forced the six actors who play hostages in his spy thriller Argo to live like they would've done in the 70s, taking away their luxuries. He told Shortlist magazine: "I took the six and made them live on the set for a week, gave them all the newspapers and the records and the magazines and their wardrobes, took away all their phones and closed the door. They were having bad iPod withdrawal. There was so much bitter complaint we had to have a production assistant standing outside with the phones in case of an emergency call. One of the guys, Tate Donovan, really wanted to take his yoga mat in. I said, 'The yoga mat is not going in. Your character didn't have a yoga mat.' He said, 'Yoga started in the 70s. Don't you know that?' I said, 'I don't give a s**t. You're Bob Anders who worked in the state department in 1979 and was 48 years old. I promise you, he wasn't doing f***ing yoga.' "

Yoga didn’t start in the 70’s. It started thousands of years ago.

Well of course actors are going to act different around him. Ben will end up being there boss sooner or later and they don’t want to do anything that might lose them potential work in the future.

@ Angelina. With the exception of very few positions (Maybe only one even), modern yoga has no ancient history. Yoga as we know it today, a set of postures (asanas)combined with breathing techniques, dates back to around 1960. Most of what is currently known as Yoga came from a manual called the Sritattvanidhi, which listed 122 poses mostly from Indian Gymnastics in the 19th century.

clearly the way he spoke to the actors, he was the dad lol. He was controlling HIS picture he sold the studio on making his way. They all signed up and agreed to make it, so listen to daddy kids. And after Gone Baby Gone and The Town, I think he should have earned enough respect to just be listened to. The film turned out great. It’s also a raare movie to NOT start out in 1st place, but move up into first after 2 weeks. Word spread.
