Fans of film looking for a much-needed dose of diversity in casting news can breathe a (momentary) sigh of relief.
At Comic-Con, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler announced — and introduced — the four leads in his upcoming Marvel Studios film. They include Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Chadwick Boseman and Danai Gurira.
Chadwick was the only one previously known to be involved with the project. The other three actors had not been confirmed prior to Comic-Con.
Not only were the four actors officially named, but their specific roles were also revealed.
Michael, known for his work in Creed, will play villain Erik Killmonger while Oscar winner Lupita will portray equally evil Nakia. Chadwick will take on the role of T’Challa (a.k.a. Black Panther) and Danai, who appears in The Walking Dead as Michonne, is set to play Okoye.
Black Panther begins filming in January 2017 and is slated for a July 2018 release.

I thought only white people could be superheroes?
I loved Panther’s smooth fighting style and look in Cap Am. I’m actually looking forward to this. I hope it does well.
