Somali-American actor Barkhad Abdi is the latest addition to the cast in Alcon Entertainment’s Blade Runner sequel — made 34 years after the 1982 original. It is also set to star headliners Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford and Robin Wright and will be directed by Denis Villeneuve.
The story picks up several decades after the ending of Ridley Scott’s original film. Production is set to begin this month, and the movie is scheduled to hit theaters on October 6, 2017.
Barkhad, repped by SMS Talent, most recently appeared in the big screen thriller Eye in the Sky alongside Helen Mirren and Aaron Paul.
Barkhad received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his screen debut as a Somali pirate in the 2013 film Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks. Along with the nomination, Barkhad also earned Best Supporting Actor nominations for the role from the Golden Globes and SAG, as well as winning a BAFTA award. Be sure to catch this up-and-coming actor on the big screen.

Over 40 years ago, Harrison Ford replaced Tom Selleck as the lead in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark and Harrison has expressed his thanks again.

Harrison Ford, 77, was out on April 24, piloting his Aviat Husky when he crossed a runway that was already in use at a California airport.
They should add Sean Young to the cast and expand upon the original’s love story.
I think the choice of this particular actor is intriguing. What kind of character he is? For example, I think Ana de Armas is intended to play Rachel. And Barkhad Abdi is a completely new type, and therefore a new plot twist will be.
And could you imagine in the role of Rachael Ana de Armas instead of Sean Young?
He’ll certainly bring something new to the film. I’m anxious to see how it turns out!
In the words of Tina Fey, “SLEEP WITH YOUR LIMO DRIVER TONIGHT!”
Why Ana de Armas? They already have a Rachel.
From the idia of eternal youth Rachael comes the idea of a new actress. Оf course, this idea is not explicitly expressed in the film.
So a new, eternally youthful Deckard as well, then? Who would play him??
I prefer the version that Deckard is human, so he’s older, despite the opinion of Ridley Scott))). I see the gray-haired Deckard with still young Rachael. But this is, of course, my dream. I wonder how the authors have turned the script.
